WITH LEE TAYLOR-FRIEND
I write this column from a houseboat on the ‘Mighty Murray River’.
It is the last few days of an amazing month long family adventure that saw us explore the ‘Red Centre’ and ‘Aussie Outback’ visiting such iconic places as Broken Hill, Coober Pedy, Uluru (Ayres Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), King’s Canyon, Palm Valley, West MacDonnell Ranges, Alice Springs and the Oodnadatta Track.
There were many lesser known places we visited such as Kulgera and Marree where we had wonderful stays and met lovely people with family living in Jindabyne – a small world indeed…
We also caught-up with friends in Adelaide where we watched sunsets over the ocean, visited wineries, historic towns and the boys rode mountain bike trails.
Whilst I did keep a journal, this is the one and only poem I wrote on our travels – a reflective, personal piece.
I hope you enjoy the poem and invite you all to the Cooma Library on Friday 26th May 10am where The Hon. John Barilaro MP will launch my latest book.
Warm Regards…Lee xx
THE CENTRE
Travelling back
To the centre of me.
Who I was…
Who I am…
Who I will be…
A journey of
Spirit, heart and mind.
A journey of knowing
Yet to find…
Explore her
Wild, vast, beating heart.
Opening, opening,
Time to start…
Connect with country,
Nature, land.
Expose her truths
In desert sand…
To go to where
We’re meant to be.
Australia’s outback,
Wild and free…
Travelling back
To the centre of me.
Who I was…
Who I am…
Who I will be…
